Monsters That Can Beat Godzilla Easily

Godzilla is the king of monsters, but could anybody depose the king? The answer is a resounding yes. Many kaiju have gone toe to toe with Godzilla and lost, but even so, many of these monsters certainly have the potential of vanquishing the king, so let’s talk about those monsters today. From Godzilla’s strongest frenemy to his arch rival, here are 10 monsters that can beat Godzilla easily.

1. Rodan

Rodan is one of those monsters that has an on again off again friendship with Godzilla, with him mostly appearing in films as an ally. In fact, the only time the two actually fought was in Godzilla Final Wars, and that’s because Rodan was brainwashed and used as a weapon by the Xiliens. But in the rest of his appearances in the Kaiju universe, he was a good friend to Godzilla, even sacrificing his own life to save King of Monsters by transferring his life energy to him. When they fought, he did lose to Godzilla, it was his movie after all, but given Rodan’s abilities, he can definitely go toe to toe with Godzilla, and even possibly beat him. Regarding abilities, he has tons of them. Flight, or course, because of his wings, but for offense he has the atomic heat ray, the uranium heat beam, the radioactive mist. He could also produce shockwaves by just flapping his wings. His most amazing ability is probably life absorption wherein he can absorb the life force of any nearby living thing to restore his own injured body. 

2. Gigan 

Gigan is probably the strangest monster that Godzilla has ever faced. I mean, just look at him; a large circular saw on his belly, large steel hooks for hands and smaller ones for toes, spikes running down his tail, three, large fin-like spines on his back and a red cybernetic visor for an eye. I dare you to find a weirder looking kaiju than this one. He is sometimes considered to be one of Godzilla’s most brutal and violent enemies. Aside from his buzzsaw belly, he can also breath out fire from his mouth. His hooked appendages are also nasty weapons, as well a laser beam that he fires from his forehead. He also has the ability to fly beyond the speed of light, granted that he can only do this in outer space. But he’s no slouch at flying inside Earth’s atmosphere as well, where he can reach speeds of up to Mach 3. Ironically, he can be quite a coward as well. In the Showa movies, he has the tendency to retreat if he sees the fight not going his way. Then again, maybe he’s just smart enough to know that it’s better to live and fight another day. 

3. Battra

Most of you with even a passing knowledge of the kaijuverse know about the lovable mothra, but did you know that she has an evil twin? Ok, not actually evil as his main job is to preserve the earth’s natural resources. The thing is, he thinks the best way to do so is to kill the entire human race. Battra is one of the oldest of monsters and was created by the planet itself and set it lose upon an ancient civilization who built a machine to control the planet’s weather patterns, thus angering the earth. Battra's only purpose was to destroy the device, but he went above and beyond his job description and eradicated the entire civilization, before moving on to do the same to the entire human race. Aside from flight, Battra’s other abilities include a force field for defense, a powerful prism beam that can create large explosions on contact, and a very destructive purple energy blast that comes from his eyes and goes in random directions, destroying everything that it hits. He definitely has the potential to lay the smackdown on the king of monsters.

4. Anguirus

Anguirus was Godzilla’s first monster enemy. He came out in the 2nd movie Godzilla Raids Again in 1955. Contrary to what most people think, Godzilla was the only monster in the first movie which came out in 1954 and humans were his main enemies. Of course, being the first already means that he has the strength to beat Godzilla, it wouldn’t be much of a movie if he couldn’t, but there are other reasons why. His appearance set the standard for all other monster battles that followed, and when it comes to fighting, Anguirus was no slouch. He was modeled after the ankylosaurus, and like the armored plant eater, Anguirus was heavily armored as well. His carapace was covered in spikes, making his hard shell not only for defense but also for offense. He also possesses a sonic roar that can inflict massive damage, and produce a paralyzing poison that he can deliver using his spikes and claws. Since his first appearance as an enemy, he has since appeared in 7 more Godzilla movies, sometimes as a friend, more often a vicious adversary.
